Dear Colleague,

On behalf of the 2008 Conference Planning Committee and our President, Dr. Randie Berger, we are pleased to announce the 43rd Annual Conference of the New York State Association of School Personnel Administrators at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, NY beginning Sunday, October 19th and concluding on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008.

With the guidance of your feedback from last year's conference you will find that the 2008 conference brochure includes many sessions pertinent to your important work as School Personnel Administrator or as an administrator whose responsibilities include aspects of personnel administration. The program has been designed to meet the range of needs from professionals who are new to the job to those who are seasoned experts. Indeed this has been a challenging year and the 2008 conference will once again offer timely and informative sessions.

Once again this year we will offer two Pre-Conference sessions: New Personnel Administrators Academy Part 1 and the Statewide BOCES Roundtable. If you are new to the field of Personnel Administration, the Academy is something you won't want to miss! Veterans of the field are also encouraged to attend and share their experiences.

This conference packet contains all of the forms necessary for conference registration and can be obtained from our website as well at www.nysapa.org. All completed forms, except for the hotel reservation form are to be returned to our Treasurer, William Domm, at the address indicated on the forms by September 12, 2008. The blue hotel reservation form is to be returned directly to the Otesaga Hotel. Be sure to include your tax-exempt certificate along with your hotel reservation and follow up with the hotel to be sure your reservation is secure. Please be aware that the hotel deadline for reservations is September 4th, 2008. Although we have again booked the entire hotel, there will be additional rooms at the Cooper Inn.

If you know of an individual who may not currently be a member of our association and who meets the membership criteria as outlined in the enclosed by-laws, Article III, and would benefit from the conference, please refer them to our website to download the conference registration forms.

NYSASPA 2008 Conference Registration Checklist:

1. OTESAGA ROOM RESERVATION FORM and DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL

Please read it carefully, complete the form in its entirety and return it to the Otesaga Hotel by SEPTEMBER 4, 2008. We have reserved the entire hotel and additional fifteen rooms at the Cooper Inn. Dining selections can be made at meal times. All meals and service charges are included in the per-day occupancy rate. Pay careful atention to the tax exempt status section. The workshops will be held in the main hotel.

 

2. NYSASPA 2008 CONFERENCE REGISTRATION FORM

Complete the form in its entirety and return it to our Treasurer, William Domm, by September 12, 2008. Please note that this form accomplishes the task of paying for both the 2008 conference registration and your membership dues for 2009.

 

3. ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION/CONCURRENT SESSION PREFERENCES

Please complete your choices and indicate desired topics of discussion and return it with your conference registration form to Treasurer, William Domm, by September 12, 2008.

 

4. GOLF TOURNAMENT

If you are interested in playing on the famed Otesaga golf course, complete the enclosed form and return it to Bill Domm with your conference registration by September 12, 2008. The Otesaga has tee times available for our members on Monday afternoon.
